It’s Christmas eve and we’ve got just enough time (before the alcohol well and truly starts flowing) to get the latest makeitgood x FatKidOnFire exclusive interview and mix posted. For those of you who reached FAKE KID ON FIRE a few weekends back (and stayed until the end) will know the next featured artist(s) very well. Like our crazy Italien bros in Dropfellas, this Dj/ production duo are renowned for bringing the European party spirit and Italian dubflavours to whichever night they’re at. STEREOLIEZ are Matt and Luca and we’ve got a HUGE mix and a feature to go with it. Truly beaut and definitely a good way to see the big 25/12/2010 in. Find them on Soundcloud, Facebook and Twitter and peep the feature and mix below.
[Matt at FAKE KID ON FIRE]
How long have you been producing music? I first discovered my passion for producing in 2009, finding this through the art of hip-hop which quickly elevated through various forms of music making – from electro funk to fidget among many other genres.
This became a part of my life; a necessity some might say!
I began to crave it in my life. In a short amount of time I discovered dubstep.
What got you into producing dubstep? I discovered dubstep about eight months ago, at a party in Italy (Giant Bass). Since then all I’ve wanted to do is create my own. Through this, an increasingly strong urge to find a more sophisticated type of music, distinguishable from the classic Italian club scene, has developed.
I moved to London 5 months ago, where I knew a more underground and original style existed.
Since moving, I’ve formed the beginning of a relationship with this typically British style of music and production (and other genres like fidget, dubstep, DnB).
What software do you use to produce your tracks? I began using the programs such as ‘FruityLoops’ and ‘Cubase’ from a simple computer.
The turning point was at my purchase of a ‘MacBook Pro’ and the evolution towards a more competitive program such as ‘Logic’ this is where the majority of our latest products are born!
Turntables or CDJs? Stereoliez has always been based on using CDJs, alternating with effects. This is due to the love my bandmate and I have for the CD. I personally collect them from around the world and try to buy as many as possible where ever I may be!
In the coming months, Stereoliez will also present a live project which will combine CDJs and drumming … there will be sweat!
Best producer/ Dj you’ve played a set with? Best Producers: Datsik and Noisia. Best sets with: Radiokillaz and Fresh Foolish.
Do you think you will stick to producing dubstep, or do you think you will mix it up and start producing other genres? Who knows what the future holds, I’ve tried a few genres already but for now dubstep is the only thing for me!
Any new releases we can look forward to? Yes, our new EP ,”Black Kamino” will be released between January and February with some amazing remixes.
You’ll soon be able to find the preview online at our Soundcloud and purchase it at Beatport.
A release date will be confirmed really soon!
We’re also approaching a release for CRUX Records with the remix for the forthcoming Fresh Foolish’s EP.
Any advice to upcoming producers/ Djs? Always believe in your potential and focus on what you really want to do, without wanting to sell out but just to gain more approval.
