Another month, another release from FKOF Records and another new addition to our roster. FKOFd056 continues our focus of finding the best talent in 140 to sign, whatever their location, and we’re stoked to welcome more ‘new wave of American dubstep’ to the family.
‘He’s been on a roll (and then some) recently, but our 56th digital instalment is continued testament to our very own Korrupt’s ear and A&R efforts. He hit Kyle, who you may know as Basura, up on SoundCloud and things moved quickly from there. End to end, this might actually be one of the quickest releases we’ve pulled together – six weeks from first contact to where we are now with the release dropping. It’s easy to move quickly when the material’s of such quality! On another note, we’re also stoked to finally welcome Dalek One to the family on the fourth and final track in FKOFd056, but more on that later…
‘We open the release with the rather rowdy ‘Onslaught’. There’s something about the dark and dirty synths in the tune that inspires the need to cause serious damage. That vibe continues with FKOFd056’s second inclusion – ‘Last Words’ – which hits harder than a 50 cal from a Desert Eagle (whether fired by Bullet Tooth Tony or not). ‘Secrets’ strips things back to our preferred beats, bass and space recipe. Atmospherics for days! Last, but definitely not least, we have ‘Exacerbated’, the collab effort with Dalek One. It’s the punchiest inclusion on the release, pushing the limits away from the darker side of 140 that we generally lean towards and approaching a perhaps brasher take on the genre. It’s a lot, and it’s a fitting end to the EP.
‘At the time of release, Kyle’s got less than 1,000 followers on SoundCloud. But, if his FKOF Records debut is anything to go by, his audience is going to grow. Whatever happens next for the Denver-based producer, we know his tunes are going to keep international dancefloors busy with the ‘eyes down, gun fingers up’ vibe we look for in our music. Keep an eye on this artist, he’s going places!’
FKOFd056 is available to pre-order from the FKOFd Bandcamp today, and will be available to purchase this Friday, 06/05/22. The release then goes to Beatport a week after that, 10/05/22, and drops on general release (via our friends at Juno Download and all other good electronic retailers) a fortnight after that. You can find the release archive across all platforms (and our Bandcamp) while you’re at it.
Producers, if you’ve got tunes for us, please feel free to send them our way.
Peace, love and respect.
