The World Cup…

The World Cup…

Unless you’ve spent the last six months hiding under a rock or suffer from some form of a memory disorder you’ll be aware that the 2010 World Cup has finally kicked off (excuse the pun). You’ll either be loving the prospect of spending upwards of a month sat in the pub/ in front of your TV cradling a few tinnies of whatever your beverage of choice is or you’ll be in the process of beginning the football-induced hibernation avoidance technique.

England’s first game against the USA is tomorrow evening and luckily for you London residents there are two massive (unfortunately conflicting) parties that will allow you to either celebrate England winning or drown your sorrows after they crash and burn…

Find out more after the jump

First off we have the Shifted + Dubpack event at Brixton Jamm (SW9 6LH) which is most definitely going to be an event to reach. The night will feature a big screen to watch the game on, more fun than you can shake a stick at (retro tuck shop, non/ alcoholic slush puppies, jerk barbequeue and live graffiti!) and some huge Djs spinning their sounds (such as FatKidOnFire fam Synamatix and the mighty Slugz & Boyson). This has been arranged by the lovely Nikki of Acute Promotions and it so happens that Shifted + Dubpack is her first event, so please reach if you can to support Nikki and the rest of the talented peoples behind the event! Peep the flyer below and the Facebook event page here.

If it so happens that you drink one too many tinnies and are too drunk/ lazy to trek from central to Brixton for Shifted + Dubpack the second shindig is slightly closer to home. FatKidOnFire resident hip-hop/ dubstep Dj Sai’s U.G.P. Bass/ Wobble Squad are throwing a banger down at FatKidOnFire favourite venue the Gramaphone on Commercial Street (E1 6LT). The superb Flux Pavillion is headlining with support from dubstep heavyweights Wobble Squad and Get Hype Collective. Get down to this event (if you for whatever reason decide to skip the awesomeness that is Shifted + Dubpack) because Sai and the rest of the crew most definitely know how to throw a party. Having Flux Dj is an added bonus! Peep the flyer below and the Facebook event page here.

Unfortunately FatKidOnFire is out of London this weekend but hopefully some of you guys will reach and support both these events!

Peace, love and respect.
