Marissa Mayer is New CEO of Yahoo
Yahoo has appointed former Google Web-Search Executive, Marissa Mayer as its new CEO. Mayer, who was the 20th employee of Google, was approached regarding the position in mid-June with a hope that she would attract new talent to help develop new web services for Yahoo.
Her appointment has been met with mixed reactions across the company, which is experiencing its 6th CEO in 5 years (shown above). More over at the Wall Street Journal.
Skype Bug Sends Private IMs to the Wrong Recipients
Following a recent update to the service in June, a small number of Skype users have reported that instant messages have been unintentionally sent to other users in their contact list. Skype has confirmed a bug and is looking rolling out an update solving the problem in the next few days. More on the story at ZDNet.
LinkedIn’s New-Look Homepage
LinkedIn is in the process of rolling out a new homepage design over the next few weeks. Opting for a cleaner, easier to navigate design, the new homepage is more akin to that of Facebook and Google+ than its current design. More info on the LinkedIn blog.
Timeline Coming to Facebook Pages on Mobile
The Pages Timeline design (introduced on the web back in February) is now making its way to mobile. When viewing a brand Page with Timeline on the go, you’ll see the brand’s cover photo, info from the About section, and bigger tabs and Like button. More on Mashable.
