Content, in one form or another, has been a fairly stable member of the FatKidOnFire family for almost as long as we’ve existed.
As 2013 draws to a close, I got talking to the producer about his year a few weeks ago. It’s been another impressive 12 months for Content, one that’s seen him tour Europe and the United States, self release a collaborative album under his FNC moniker (with Fornax; alongside label releases) and gain support from some of dubstep’s biggest tastemakers.
As he starts thinking about 2014 (and a permanent relocation to Norway), while unfortunately battling what could mean the end of 4 months’ worth of tunes after the death of his new iMac, we’ve once again joined forces to give away two of his recent and most popular dubs…
‘Funny Angle’ and his ‘Pulse‘ remix have been wracking up the play count on SoundCloud over the past few months and, as always, we’re delighted to give the two tunes a home. The first tune evokes the signature Content sound, while the ‘Pulse’ remix strips the tune back to the one or two of the original elements whilst retaining all of its power.
Karnage and Mark IV’s ‘Pulse’ came out on Annihilate Audio at the start of October – buy it from Juno here.
The FKOF review
“Lurking behind the track title lies a vast expanse full of twisted percussive elements that pop through the sound field. The first drop releases mid-range madness Content is known for, which moves parallel to the low end to form a unified evil that spreads through the cochlea. Filters cement the outskirts of the cold atmospheres, solidifying the edges that create the angle necessary to take on Content’s rollercoaster ride. All aboard to explore the underworld!”
The FKOF review
“Melancholic elements converge to overrun the listener’s senses as an intriguingly reworked vocal thrills announces Content’s ‘Pulse’ remix. Katie Bregman’s words bewitch the listener, creating an invasive and unforgettable experience. A mid-range pulses like a heartbeat, while every element’s minimalistic core empowers the dream-like state that the listener experiences. Content takes an inside-out approach with his lurking ‘Dark Corners’ remix, wrap up warm because this one’s chilly!”
Peace, love and respect.
