Caski & Chimpo go Um Bongo for FABRICLIVE

[Event Highlight]

We did a bit of work with the Fabric team towards the end of last year, celebrating the Osiris Music and Hit&Run appearances in the FABRICLIVE event series. It’s a partnership we’ll be continuing in the coming months here on FatKidOnFire, so keep your eyes on the Fabric tag for the future posts.

In the run up to the first FABRICLIVE event of 2014, long-term FKOF fam Caski has teamed up with bass music legend Chimpo to give away one of the most exciting tunes we’ve heard in ages. The amusingly titled ‘Um Bongo’ is up for WAV download on the Fabric SoundCloud – but you can stream, download and check their review below.

The Fabric review:
“Delivering an ethereal, drum-straddling 176bpm flex that seamlessly wraps up a fantastic year for its creators; ‘Um Bongo’ is the collaboration between Ghost Recordings’ affiliate, Caski and the imperative Hit&Run cohort, Chimpo.

“Having smashed 2013 with a feast of definitive drops including Caski’s impending remix of El-B’s ‘Buck & Bury’, Chimpo’s massive ‘Headtop’ with Enei and an imminent release on Exit Records, Chimpo’s vocal collision with the production works of the forthcoming Electro Magnetic Fields recruit is smacked full of rolling swing, sending a cascade of sub-laced junglist swagger.”

Chimpo is appearing alongside Rich Reason, Wayfarer and Kanjira (who have both been gearing up for a truly ridiculous set with a number of new dubs) and a number of the other Hit&Run artists to welcome in the new year in the best way possible in Room 3. As you can see on the flyer there’s a pretty FKOFing exciting line up in Rooms 1 and 2 as well…

“Helping us to kick off our Spring Season, those masterful mixologists Jack Beats fire up Room One alongside their invited guests: the UK hip-hop outfit turned electronic formation, Foreign Beggars, Stateside trap spectacular, UZ and Congorock.

“Room Two will be commanded by an elite list of drum & bass luminaries. The legendary duo Calyx & TeeBee join Shogun stalwart, Rockwell and Black Sun Empire, whilst Krust lines up next to steadfast Critical signing, Stray and the hotly tipped Joe Ford.

“Chimpo will appear alongside rising talents Barely Legal and Skittles as Manchester’s most definitive crew, Hit&Run, head back to Room Three for their first takeover of the year. They’ll be flanked by cohorts Walton, Rich Reason and Silas & Snare Surgeon with MCs Fox and T-Man.”
