Korrupt x Spectrum - A FatKidOnFire Special

A FatKidOnFire Special

When we started FatKidOnFire back in early 2010, there were a relatively limited number of solid bass-focused blogs and websites out on the web (out to the crews running them – you know who you are). Us, Hedmuk, Trusik, 40HZ, MakeItGood (RIP) and a few others.

These days, there’s new blood – new talent – popping up nearly every week. One of my favourite newer blogs is Spectrum (backed with the Infernal Sounds YouTube channel), who’ve proved themselves as a new champion of the sound with consistently high quality features, event coverage and more.

FKOF Resident Korrupt

Now, I don’t need to go on about how special our very own Korrupt is, how integral to the team – and to our continuing successes, but he’s got quite a following thanks to his truly spectacular mixing and selection skills. Rotterdam’s resident bass specialist has played across Europe (and without giving much away, will be making his UK debut in the coming months) and is co-founder/ co-owner/ co-manager of our new FKOFd digital label. Man’s got skills.

After reaching a personal milestone on his own SoundCloud, Korrupt and our friends in the Spectrum gang have collaborated for a very special 20th podcast in the Spectrum series

“Korrupt has been someone I personally have kept a close eye on for a long time; as a blog writer and as a DJ. His mixing skills are almost mechanical as he slides tracks into each other, a lot like a knife through butter and his track selection is always unpredictable, yet top drawer. For the blog, he has always brought some of the best free downloads from some of the top producers around, with his write ups and reviews delivering an interesting perspective to music, involving all the technicalities in depth.

“In relation to the release, it’s certainly a milestone for the entire FatKidOnFire family and shows clear signs of how much they’ve grown since their start 3 and a half years ago. With this release and their earlier debut compilation album ‘Un/Known01’, they are bound to continue poaching some of the best music out there, strictly for your satisfaction.

“As individuals and as a collective, they have always been an inspiration, giving me knowledge of the scene, industry and a shed load of unknown artists, who I may have not found otherwise. So I salute Korrupt for this wicked mix and of course Wil Benton, alongside the rest of the FatKidOnFire family for constantly setting the benchmark higher for the rest to follow.”
