Lyeform – Stigma / TMSV remix

FKOF Review

With grime rolling through to reach the peak of its popularity cycle once more, the natural movement of the sound (and its wider influences) has enabled a number of new talents to flourish – producers, DJs and record labels. One such label is the newly established imprint Mo:zaïek Music.

The Belgium-based label is debuting its vinyl first releases timed for a summer drop – and they’re not hanging about with MZK001. It’s a weighty plate that features London’s Lyeform, backed by Dutch badman, FKOF fam and allround nice guy TMSV on the remix.

Ahead of its release in early June, we had the opportunity to check the Stigma EP (including TMSV’s ‘Rusty 3 Star’ remix) and put pen to paper…

Lyeform - Stigma / TMSV remix (MZK001)

The FKOF Review

“Lyeform has appeared on our radar a few times recently, with frequent Rinse FM airplay thanks to the Keysound Recordings gang. TMSV, while managing to focus on his legal studies, has continued to set the bar with his up-tempo endeavours as of late. With support from the likes of Om Unit, Danny Scrilla and J:Kenzo, Utrecht’s finest has collaborated with the London-based producer to deliver some hot, hot heat.

“Lyeform’s Stigma’ is one of those tunes designed for dark, smokey dancefloors in abandoned warehouses. The producer has implemented some bitter samples and thugged-out atmospheres to create a dubstep-infused grime vibe that will drive listeners to and then over the edge. The way his raw kicks, a tough snare and dirty stabs correspond with the bass inside the mix is astounding. He has stepped out of his comfort zone to deliver a true sound system rumbler.”

“TMSV’s contribution to Mo:zaïek’s debut release kicks the hornet’s nest and then sets fire to it. It’s a fierce rework that contains some truly barbaric basslines, a low-pressure zone and corrosive leads that bring total destruction to the dance. It builds to a sonic boom that results in uncontrollable head-nodding, skanking and an old-school fever. The TSMV remix sticks in the mind, making it an essential contribution to Mo:zaïek’s debut release.”
